ABOUT

the Health Promotion Scholarships

Want to kick start your career in health promotion?

The scholarships have been successfully administered by AHPA (WA Branch) since 1993, with a total of 79 graduates and 40 Aboriginal people having completed placements in a vast range of health related organisations in the government and not-for-profit sector.

Health agencies and organisations are encouraged to consider the prospect of hosting an applicant. Applicants must be supervised by a health professional with health promotion experience and skills within the organisation and undertake tasks of mutual benefit to the professional career of the applicant and the selected organisation. The project can form part of an existing program within an organisation or may be a new initiative where planning has been undertaken. It is essential that the project already has funding as the scholarship only covers the salary (plus 20% on-costs). The applicant should not be expected to source further funding in order to complete the project. Additional funds will not be available from Healthway beyond the scholarship period. Each scholarship offered is for a six-month full-time health promotion work placement (part-time options can be negotiated).

If you would like to apply for a scholarship, or are interested in hosting a scholarship recipient in 2024, please join the AHPA WA Branch for updates or email scholarshipswa@healthpromotion.org.au to be notified of the opening of applications for the 2024 scholarships program.

Celebrating 21 Years

In 2013, AHPA (WA Branch) and Healthway celebrated 21 years of providing scholarships to the Western Australian community. As part of this celebration a retrospective booklet was developed that showcased the recipients and projects that have been funded over this time.
